Winter Baseball Camps
Worcester, MA January 6, 2009 -- The Worcester Tornadoes Professional Baseball team has announced a series of baseball camps that will include two offseason clinics in 2009. In a brand new partnership with Extra Innings Indoor Training Center in Auburn, the Tornadoes will offer baseball clinics during the February and April school vacation weeks. The five-day clinics will run during the weeks of Feb. 16 – 20 and April 20 – 24. The clinics are open to children between the ages of 6 and 15, and will focus on the proper mechanics of hitting, fielding, throwing and base running. Both school vacation clinics will take place at Extra Innings- a 17,500 square foot training facility on Southbridge Street in Auburn.
“We’re excited to team up with Extra Innings to offer these offseason baseball clinics to our fans,” said Tornadoes General Manager Jorg Bassiacos. “Extra Innings is a premier baseball and softball facility with plenty of space, top-notch instructors, and only minutes from our ballpark.”
The clinics will run from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM and offer instruction from the Extra Innings staff as well as some Tornadoes players, including Tornadoes pitcher Shaun McNamara. A full week’s tuition for the clinic will be $175, or $150 for members of Extra Innings.
"All of us here at Extra Innings Auburn are thrilled to partner with the Worcester Tornadoes and to offer yet another great benefit to our clients and present members,” said Doug Kemp, co-owner of Extra Innings Auburn. “This is a great opportunity to train with former professional players, and present and future players as well."
In addition to the February and April clinics, the Tornadoes will again host three weeks of baseball camps at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field this summer.
